Art's current position with Georgia Pacific, as the Senior Director of Process and Product Technology, GP Cellulose, LLC, includes responsibility for process and product development and applications including support to manufacturing. Art came to this position 8 years ago after more than 10 years overseeing the process engineering and manufacturing technical services for Georgia Pacific's pulp, paper and tissue operations. Prior to Georgia Pacific, Art held positions with BE&K Engineering, International Paper and Scott Paper, with responsibilities including pulp and paper board manufacturing, R&D support to primary processing for paper grade and dissolving pulp, tissue, environmental services, pulp manufacturing technical services and capital project management. With more than 35 years experience after earning a Ph.D. in chemistry and engineering from Syracuse University and the State University of New York at Syracuse University, Art brings a diverse, fundamental and practical approach to product and process development and commercialization. Art has multiple publications in peer reviewed journals, patents and is responsible for developing and helping to commercialize many new pulp products including the subject of today's presentation, Golden Isles CO(tm) Fluff Pulp.
